Moraitis Model United Nations 2026

About the Conference

MoMUN is the Model United Nations conference of Moraitis School in Psychiko, Athens. It is organised by the school's students for students from other schools. The first edition takes place from 31 October to 1 November 2026 at Moraitis School in Athens, under the theme Equity in an Uneducated World. The organisers expect more than 250 delegates across nine committees. It is aimed at secondary school students, who register through their schools. The agenda mixes the four main General Assembly committees with the Security Council, ECOSOC, the Human Rights Council, the World Bank and UNESCO, with current topics from the Strait of Hormuz to digital sovereignty. Committees 🛡️ Disarmament and International Security Committee (Drone warfare and asymmetric conflict in the Red Sea; Preventing the sabotage of critical infrastructure as a means of coercion) 🕊️ Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (The cultural assimilation of marginalised refugee communities; Combating honour based abuse and protecting victims) 🤝 Special Political and Decolonization Committee (Stability in regions affected by protracted and frozen conflicts; The situation in Nakhchivan) ⚖️ Legal Committee (The limits of self defence under the UN Charter in contemporary conflicts; The scope of digital sovereignty under international law) 🛡️ Security Council (Peace and security in the Strait of Hormuz; Instability in Darfur after the siege of El Fasher) 💼 Economic and Social Council (Illegal oil transfers in the South China Sea; Next generation nuclear energy and environmental sustainability; Water management in regions facing scarcity) 🕊️ Human Rights Council (Protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation; Dismantling human trafficking networks; Protecting journalists in conflict zones) 💼 World Bank (Financial inclusion through digital infrastructure in developing states; Resilient healthcare systems against future pandemics) 📚 United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Human damage to cultural heritage sites; The exclusion of scientific theories from national curricula; Economic development and the preservation of cultural heritage)
