About the Conference

NHSMUN, the National High School Model United Nations Conference, is run by IMUNA, a not-for-profit organisation associated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications. Its staff are university-level Model UN experts trained by IMUNA, and the conference is in its 53rd year. The 2027 edition takes place in New York City, with committee sessions at the New York Hilton Midtown and opening or closing ceremonies at the United Nations Headquarters when space allows. There are two four-day sessions to choose from: 12 to 15 March 2027 and 17 to 20 March 2027, with the same programme in both. Schools may bring groups of up to about 50 students. It is for high school students, and it draws schools from more than 70 countries each year. The committees follow real United Nations bodies, each with a published background guide, plus several crisis and historical committees. Optional training workshops and practice simulations run the day before each session.
