About the Conference

Prague Model United Nations (PRAMUN) is an international conference for high school students, held every January at Jan Neruda High School (Gymnรกzium Jana Nerudy) in Prague. Founded in 2009, it is organised by the school's students and teachers with experienced MUN organisers. PRAMUN XIX runs from 19 to 24 January 2027, with around 400 delegates and a cultural programme in the city. It awards no points, favouring cooperative debate over competition. The conference has 14 regular committees, a Security Council and a historical committee on the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople in 1453. Committees ๐Ÿ’ป Artificial Intelligence (Establishing binding international standards for the identification and labelling of AI-generated content; Reducing the growing global disparity in access to AI technology and infrastructure) ๐ŸŒ Climate (Balancing water security and agricultural needs in regions increasingly affected by drought; Establishing international mechanisms to accelerate the phase-out of coal-fired power generation) ๐Ÿ’ป Cybersecurity (Establishing international norms for the use of cyber operations during armed conflicts; Preventing ransomware attacks against essential public services) ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Disarmament (Establishing international rules governing the use of AI in military decision-making; Regulating deployment of new weapon systems in outer space) ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Disarmament II (Preventing the proliferation of military-grade drones to armed non-state actors; International safeguards against the diversion of civilian nuclear technology for military purposes) ๐Ÿ’ผ Economic and Financial (Reforming international sanctions to reduce their impact on civilian populations; Developing international solutions to the growing debt burden of low- and medium-income countries) ๐ŸŒ Environmental (Combatting the environmental impacts of large-scale AI infrastructure; Preventing the international trade of illegally mined minerals from financing armed conflicts) ๐Ÿ›๏ธ Historical Committee (Ottoman Conquest of Constantinople, 1453) ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Human Rights I (Protecting civilians from the use of non-discriminatory AI-powered surveillance and facial recognition by governments; Measures to make non-state paramilitary and security actors accountable in ongoing conflicts) ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Human Rights II (Protecting the rights of political dissidents and journalists who operate from exile; Establishing safeguards against algorithmic discrimination of minorities in automated decision-making) ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ Humanitarian Aid and Refugees (Ensuring humanitarian access to civilians in conflicts where aid is deliberately restricted; Establishing fair and effective procedures for the return of migrants who do not qualify for international protection) ๐Ÿฉบ Mental Health (Protecting adolescents from addictive design practices in digital products and services; Integrating mental-health support into national education systems in low- and middle-income countries) ๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Security Council (The situation in Sudan; Safeguarding freedom of navigation in vital global waterways; The situation in the Great Lakes region of Africa) ๐Ÿ“š Social and Cultural (Regulating the creator economy to protect users from harmful online content and commercial practices; Preventing the illicit trafficking and looting of cultural artifacts in areas affected by armed conflict) ๐Ÿ’Š UN Office on Drugs and Crime (Addressing the global rise of online betting and its links to organized crime and social harm; Reconciling national drug decriminalization policies with existing international drug-control treaties) ๐Ÿฉบ World Health Organization (Balancing intellectual property rights with equitable access to essential medicines and vaccines; Establishing international standards for the use of AI in healthcare)
