About the Conference

Virginia Model United Nations is a high school conference hosted by the International Relations Organization, a student group at the University of Virginia. UVA students staff it, and the organisers state that the group is independent of the university itself. The 46th edition, VAMUN XLVI, takes place from 6 to 8 November 2026 on the University of Virginia's Grounds in Charlottesville, around the Rotunda. The slate counts about twenty committees. The conference is aimed at high school delegations and independent delegates of every experience level, with a novice crisis room alongside advanced ones. Beyond General Assemblies and specialised agencies it runs the Wilson Global Systems Simulation, a four way crisis set in the American Gilded Age, and a joint crisis. Most committees are technology free, AI use is not allowed, and position papers are required for General Assembly and specialised committees.
