The Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC) is the First Committee of the United Nations General Assembly. It addresses issues related to international peace, security, disarmament, arms control, and emerging threats that affect global stability. DISEC provides a platform for member states to discuss international security challenges, exchange perspectives, and develop diplomatic solutions through multilateral cooperation. The committee encourages delegates to understand their assigned countries' foreign policies, evaluate competing national interests, and negotiate practical recommendations that promote peace and security. Delegates are expected to conduct thorough research, participate in formal debates, engage in diplomatic negotiations, and collaborate on draft resolutions. Throughout the committee sessions, participants should demonstrate critical thinking, effective communication, respectful diplomacy, and a commitment to constructive international cooperation. The objective of DISEC is to encourage meaningful dialogue and develop recommendations that contribute to a safer, more peaceful, and stable international community.
